What happens to the face as we get older?

29 October, 2020

Skins:

The obvious is that skin changes as the years go by. This becomes very clear if you compare soft, supple and smooth baby skin with the skin of a mature person, who may have developed some lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and loss of elasticity and volume. These changes are due to several factors, such as a decrease in the production of hyaluronic acid, which retains moisture and nourishes the collagen and elastin in the skin. Cell renewal slows down, causing the skin to lose vitality and glow.

Structural changes:

The knowledge of what actually happens in our face has steadily improved. The fact is that structural changes occur all the way from the bone substance to the outermost layer of skin. Bone substance, the various layers of fat, ligaments, muscles and connective tissue all change structure and lose shape. Reduction in muscle mass, with increased tension, contributes to more lines and wrinkles. All these changes lead to a loss of volume and original shape of the face. We can compare the skin to a tablecloth that lies over all the structures that make up our face, becoming a little too big as the years go by and the structures underneath diminish.

We're all aware that we're not meant to look like we're 20 for the rest of our lives, and it's not something most people want or strive for. But these age-related changes can lead to a feeling of looking sad, tired and unrested, without necessarily feeling that way. As a therapist, I experience a demand for help to regain vitality in the skin, and a more fresh and refreshed expression, without «losing yourself and your character».

Natural results:

For an optimal result, which for most people will involve healthy and vital skin, restoration and rejuvenation of lost volume and facial contours, all these changes need to be addressed. Effective and active skincare products in combination with injection treatments can provide very good results. It is also important to emphasize that good products and treatments can to a large extent also prevent these changes.

The increased knowledge of what actually happens as we age has led to ever better products and techniques to address these changes. My choice of products for skincare and injection treatments is based on ensuring that they are the best high-quality products available on the market. It is very important that the filler used has the same dynamic properties as your own tissue. Only then will you get a naturally beautiful result, where you can simply turn back the clock a little without it becoming an artificial and «treated» expression.

Want to know more:

If you would like to know more and what might be right for you, you are very welcome to a non-binding consultation with me. I set aside plenty of time for such a consultation so that you can get a thorough assessment and information about relevant products and treatments.
